Barbara B. Phillips, 90, Merriville, died 9:50 a.m. Friday, Dec. 24, 1999 in Methodist Hospital Southlake Campus, Merriville. She was born in Crawfordsville, Nov. 24, 1909, to William H. and Bertha B. Fry. She was the wife of Edgar E. Phillips Jr., who preceded her in death Dec. 10, 1990. They were married Aug. 18, 1936. She was a teacher and taught in schools in Young America, Walton and Harvey, Ill., retiring in 1965. She was a 1928 graduate of Logansport High School and a 1935 graduate of Indiana University Bloomington. She was a former member of First United Methidist Church, LaPorte, Kappa Delta Sorority and Order of Eastern Star. Surviving are a daughter, Karen S. Sandberg, Tinley Park, Ill; one son-in-law, Dan Prickett, Bridgman, Mich.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, a daughter, Barbara Ann Prickett (July 26, 1999); two brothers and three sisters. A private graveside service will be Monday. Burial will be in Walton I.O.O.F. Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Murray Funeral Home, Galveston, is in charge of arrangements.
